Cray Day in Michigan

Yes – I left my crawfish in Michigan  (LOL) . We lived the last 18 years in Michigan and we moved back 6 years ago to my home state to help my elderly parents. I came across this in the news and thought I would share,.

Michigan – has a crawfish problem.

The DNR said it is the first case of a live red swamp crayfish to be found in the wild in the state. Another of the invasive crustaceans was found in a retaining pond in Novi days later, the DNR said.

Now, they’re trapping the critters to try to get a handle on the infestation, but officials say totally eliminating them from the lake may not be an option.

That’s an issue because the crayfish can burrow and cause damage to bridges, dams and other structures, the DNR said. Ka;Kalamazoo News

Lafayette Travel is helping with the problem with   Plans

Even though Vicksburg, MI and Lafayette, LA are separated by more than 1,000 miles, they both have one thing in common. Crawfish. On July 19 the Michigan Department of Natural Resources released an advisory confirming the presence of the invasive red swamp crayfish (Procambarus clarkii), also known as the Louisiana crayfish, in Sunset Lake in Vicksburg and a retention pond in Novi.
