New Orleans Doughnuts *Recipe

New Orleans style Doughnuts – 

  • 1 pkg active dry yeast
  • 1/2 c sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 7 cups ap flour
  • 11/2 c water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 C evaporated milk
  • 1/4 cup soften shortenin

Oil for deep frying & Confectioners sugar for dusting.

Make dough & chill overnight. Roll out 1/8 inch thick  & cut into 21/2 inch squares .

Deep fry at 350 degrees until lightly brown. Drain & dust with Sugar

Don’t want to make your own dough -store bought frozen bread dough works just as good. Let stand  overnight  & will be ready in the morning.  Lisa
