Today at My Holiday Table – It’s Appetizers and Drinks before the big meal .
Thanksgiving is a big day for my family . We gather at a family members house and spend the day together enjoying family ,food and football. The host/hostess supplies the meat and we all bring the other dishes. The hostess call and tell us appetizer ,side dish, desert or anything goes. With the numbers in 50-70 people it’s a lot of food and fun.
Traditionally the Women are in the kitchen are getting the food ready to serve and set out. It’s time to catch up and gossip and Eat. And the Men are finishing the Meat ( frying Turkey ) -BBQ meat or ham for the table talking about hunting and football. Depending on the weather or house they are outside having fun. We usually don’t eat till about 2 o clock so we have lots of time to have fun. Lisa
So come visit the kitchen with me – on the counter :
- 1 C Sugar
- 1 C brewed tea
- 11/2 C bourbon
- 61/2 C Water
- 1 can frozen lemonade
- 1 can frozen orange juice
Mix together and Freeze over night. Remove at least one hour before serving. And place in punch bowl and Served chilled.
To Eat :
- 3 frozen bread loaves
- 1 lb bulk sausage ( but you can use other meat)
- 1 C Trinity (seasoning )
- 1 pkg of frozen Spinach (dried)
- 1 C Cheese
- Salt & pepper (season to taste )
Thaw bread out – Cook Sausage and seasoning. Wring out Spinach until dried out.
Roll out bread and place Sausage,Spinach & Cheese on one side, Roll over and pinch to close . Bake at 350 until browned. Slice and Serve on platter.
Crab meat Dip
- 1 can mushroom
- 3 T chopped onions
- 3 T butter
- 1/4 C flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp dry mustard
- 11/4 C milk
- 1 C grated Cheese
- 1 lb Crab Meat
- Salt,Pepper & hot sauce to taste
In a skillet saute onions and mushrooms. Blend in flour and seasoning. Add milk and Cook until it thickens. Add cheese and Stir until melted. Stir in Crab meat . Serve Hot with Crackers .
