Deborah : From the Hebrew name דְּבוֹרָה (Devorah) meaning “bee”. In the Old Testament Book of Judges, Deborah is a heroine and prophetess who leads the Israelites when they are threatened by the Canaanites. She forms an army under the command of Barak, and together they destroy the army of the Canaanite commander Sisera.The general lesson of the text is that the powers of the heavens are on the side of right.
Ruth :
The Book of Ruth relates that Ruth and Orpah, two women of Moab, had married two sons of Elimelech and Naomi, Judeans who had settled in Moab to escape a famine in Judah. The husbands of all three women die; Naomi plans to return to her native Bethlehem and urges her daughters-in-law to return to their families
The strong theme that comes through in this book is that kindness will be rewarded. There are many important themes in the book of Ruth. The two main themes are: God’s providence, and the idea of a kinsman redeemer. The book starts off in the time of the Judges.
And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to you all that you require: for all the city of my people does know that you are a virtuous woman.
Boaz and Ruth :
The story of Ruth and Boaz deals with cross-cultural & forbidden love, immigration and the relationship between a powerful man and a vulnerable woman . Sent by her mother in law to an older kinsman for protection and marriage.
Literally, Boaz called Ruth a hah-yil woman. The basic meaning behind this Hebrew word is “strength; moral strength, good quality, integrity, virtue.” This same word is used in a term for heroes in the Bible: A mighty man of valor. Just a courage and strength make a man a hero, so Ruth’s courage and strength, shown in her virtue –
