After taking a walk after the storm. One of my favorite smell of the season is the scent of Magnolia in bloom. I have a large one in my front yard that is in full bloom. So I am off too cut a few blooms to enjoy the frangrance before it goes away. Lisa

. Magnolia fragrance is most often described as citrus like or lemony. In some species, the twigs and branches are also fragrant or aromatic with lemon overtones.
If you have lots of space, a storied southern magnolia (Magnolia grandiflora) will give you plenty of shade. Southern magnolias grow from 1 to 2 feet a year, reaching 60 to 80 feet tall with canopies spreading 30 to 50 feet wide.
Magnolias symbolized dignity and nobility. In ancient China, magnolias were thought to be the perfect symbols of womanly beauty and gentleness. In the American South, white magnolias are commonly seen in bridal bouquets because the flowers are thought to reflect and emphasize the bride’s purity and nobility.
