
it’s National French toast day ! But we have always called it Lost Bread. A family favorite for this cold wet morning :

- 1 loaf thick cut bread or french bread
- 1 C milk
- 4 eggs
- 2 T butter
- 2 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- Cinnamon,powder sugar or syrup
- Slice bread into 1 inch slices. Mix milk,sugar,egg and vanilla-sprinkle with cinnamon on top. Dip bread in milk mixture. and let soak. Melt butter in skillet and fry bread in butter. After bread is fried -sprinkle with powder sugar or syrup.
It’s all the same. Orginal called French toast in a cookbook it was referred by regular people lost bread as reference to the recipe using leftover bread. In Germany, it’s called Eggybread and sometimes in Louisiana pan Perdue using leftover French bread.
