National Tulip and Michigan day

Today is National Tulip day! But fitting it’s also National Michigan day. .

They are one of my favorite flowers but not scene much in South Louisiana since we don’t really have the cold weather they need to bloom. My grandmother grew tulips but had to put her tulip bulbs every year in fridge before planting to give them the temperature change they needed to grow here.

I was lucky enough when we lived in Michigan to grow them in my yard. . I also had the honor to visit the fields of tulips in Holland, Michigan. Where they grow and ships bulbs from. Make sure you schedule a visit to the Tulip Festival held every year in Holland. This year in May ! Maybe a Mothers day trip? Lisa
