Summer Reading Camps

Hello Friday – It’s another wet day in Louisiana but schools out here and I’am thinking about Summer Break.  One fun thing you can do is – a Summer Reading Camp !

Why Reading Camp ?

The research is clear that children who don’t read during the summer can lose up to three months of reading progress and that loss has a cumulative, long-term effect.

What is Summer Reading?

  • A free 8-week program at branches of the Public Library that encourages babies, children, tweens, teens and adults to read throughout the summer.
  • Set your own reading goals, read at your own pace wherever you’re most comfortable, and visit the library once each week to collect fun incentive prizes.
  • There are free special events and workshops in our libraries all throughout the Summer Reading Program!
  • So check out your local library and join in the fun.
