Happy Sunday ! I thought I would start a Sunday edition to my Food Blog- called Cooking with GG. My grandmother was a great baker and every time I bake in this kitchen I think of her. So each Sunday I will be sharing GG (Great Grandma) recipes.
This recipe she got from a family friend in Metairie, Louisiana. And became a family favorite :
Heavenly Pound Cake:
- 1 lb Butter , soften
- 3 C Sugar
- 6 Eggs
- 4 C AP Flour
- 3/4 C Milk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 tsp almond
- 1/2 C Coca
Cream butter and add sugar . Then add each ingredients with Milk in between. Mix well and add flavoring at the end. Mix and pour into a greased and floured 10 inch tube pan. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour and 40 minutes, Let Cook and remove- Dust with powdered sugar.
Baking Tip from GG:
Can I substitute a loaf pan for a tube pan ?
Yes—but don’t overfill the pan. Be sure to leave about 1/2″ to 1/4″ of space at the top to give the cake room to grow. You’ll also need to adjust your baking time. Bundt cake pans are deep, so recipes call for longer baking times
