Happy Thursday ! And today it’s all about Community and Volunteering. I am Thankful and Blessed to be in a town that helps other through the Good times and the Bad times. So Today I am giving Thanks to all the Special groups in town.
Our Community : Melville , La.
With less than a Thousand people we are a close knit town. Our fire department is run by volunteers who does an amazing job. They also maintain our helicopter pad which is a life line to our local hospital which is 45 minutes away. Our town Library is run by Volunteers (which I am one) and all of our books are gifted by our citizens. It’s also a Well check point, beauty pageant host , and lately Voting Poll.
Grateful Community : Filling a Need
We lost our local grocery store this year. So the Community came together to plant a Community Garden, And the local churches support a farmers market to help the needy and get produce out from local farmers. We also our part of The Second Harvest program ran by volunteers from the community and the church.
Blessed by God: Freedom of Choice
Our Little town is Blessed with 8 churches of various types. They helps in various ways : From helping the homeless, running the Food Banks and running the Clothes and Jacket Drive. As well has a Giving Tree for Christmas.
A true community is not just about being geographically close to someone or part of the same social web network. It’s about feeling connected and responsible for what happens. Humanity is our ultimate community, and everyone plays a crucial role.
