Cold Weather * Shrimp & Okra Gumbo

Good Morning! It’s about 45 degrees in Louisiana and all our Snow has melted. The only thing you can count on is the quick change of weather here. Next week will be back in the 7o’s . But for a little while it will fill like Winter. With all the joys of living in a house that’s a hundred years old & impossible to heat. We just bundle up and live with it.  Lisa


To warm up I think Gumbo on- Today Okra & shrimp

  • 2lb cleaned shrimp
  • 2 lb okra /chopped (fresh/frozen)
  • 2 onions chopped
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • cooking oil
  • chopped bell pepper & celery
  • salt & pepper to taste.

Mix okra,onions,bell pepper & celery in oil until smothered ( about 45 minutes). Then add tomato sauce& a Cup of Water.Add shrimp & adjust seasoning to taste. Cook another 15 minutes. Eat with rice -enjoy.
