Sunday’s Round Table

Welcome to my Home for. Sunday’s lunch . It has always been a big thing at our house.

I grew up with Grandma starting lunch before leaving for church and finishing it when we came home. And everyone would help and then we would all eat. Dinner was always leftovers or a quick meal. Mom and I have followed that tradition here at home.

What is the significance of the shape of the Round Table?

The shape of the table was very important. Most tables are rectangular, and have a place called the “head of the table”. This is the narrow part at the top, where the leader usually sits. Because the table was round, it meant that the people who sat around it were all seen as equal.

Chinese
prefer round dining tables because more people can be seated around the table. A round table allows people to eat facing each other without differentiation. In other words, when seated at a round table every one is equal, regardless of their status and wealth.
