Farm Life :

Thomasson farm:

This is my cousins farm that we have all helped and celebrated holidays on.

Sugarcane, (Saccharum officinarum), perennial grass of the family Poaceae, primarily cultivated for its juice from which sugar is processed.

To grow sugarcanes, one must reside in a tropical climate such as Hawaii, Florida and Louisiana. Sugarcane is grown in limited quantities in Texas and a few other Gulf Coast states as well

How long does it take to grow sugar cane?12 to 16 months Sugar cane grows for 12 to 16 months before being harvested between June and December each year. When harvested, the cane stands two to four metres high.
