Lighting the Oaks and Hot Chocolate

It’s Monday Dec 2nd ! And today we are lighting the Oaks…

The Walking Ladies of Opelousas are planning another beautiful presentation at Courthouse Square, the Lighting of the Oaks

Visit downtown Opelousas the Saturday after Thanksgiving when they plug in the lights and light up the square! Santa Claus will also be on site for holiday photos. Other activities include a petting zoo, storytelling, and a choral performance by the Our Lady Queen of Angels Church Choir. Attendees can also stroll around the square to view public art and visit food and craft vendors.

November 30th is also Small Business Saturday, a day to shop for unique gifts while supporting local, small businesses. After the lighting ceremony, attendees can shop local and find discounts in the area stores and boutiques.

Enjoy some pictures from Saturday night:

Hot Chocolate for a crowd https://www.hersheys.com/kitchens/en_us/recipes/hot-cocoa-for-a-crowd.html

1-1/4 cups HERSHEY’S Cocoa
1/2 teaspoon salt
1-1/2 cups sugar
3/4 cup water hot
1 gallon milk
1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Combine sugar, cocoa and salt in 6-quart saucepan; gradually add water. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture boils. Boil and stir 2 minutes. Add milk. Heat to serving temperature, stirring frequently. Do not boil. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla. Serve hot. About twenty-two 6-oz. servings.

So my today’s question is your Tree up? Do you decorate outside ?

  1. We have some little live trees up in our home. I still need to put up outside lights though. Our neighbors across the street already have their lights up and it is so pretty. Looks like you had a great time.
