Through the years our traditions have changed – as a single adult (artificial, married with a fresh harvest tree & and now one from the local store. We usually put ours up as a Birthday celebration for my husband -as a has an early December birthday. When living in Michigan it was easy to find a tree farm and cut it yourself and hall in home. Now in Louisiana we make do with store bought ones. We have had all kinds but with animals I try to keep my tree compact .

Have you ever wonder why Christmas trees? Here’s a great explanation- History Channel

the evergreen fir tree has traditionally been used to celebrate winter festivals (pagan and Christian) for thousands of years. Pagans used branches of it to decorate their homes during the winter solstice, as it made them think of the spring to come. The Romans used Fir Trees to decorate their temples at the festival of Saturnalia. Christians use it as a sign of everlasting life with God.

  1. I loved writing about this subject as well. Merry Christmas Lisa from this Lisa in Canada. I’m impressed on your everyday posting. Still trying to make sure I post at least every two weeks https://hercreativelife.wordpress.com/2017/12/16/where-angels-santas-happily-co-exist/
