At The Library : AR Books

Welcome to my Library this Tuesday. We are open again after the holidays and students are here picking out AR books to Read. One of the things I love about my job is getting books in the hands of people to read. We are lucky enough to have a pretty big selections -so it might be time for some recommendations from my students. Lisa

What is an AR book?

At a Glance. Accelerated Reader is a computer-based program that schools may use to monitor reading practice and progress. It helps teachers guide kids to books that are on kids’ individual reading levels. Kids take short quizzes after reading a book to check if they’ve understood it.

What is the AR level of a book?

he book level is a measure of the complexity of the text. ATOS, the readability formula used to assess text complexity for AR, is applied consistently to every one of the 26,000+ books we have quizzed. The ATOS formula used in Accelerated Reader analyses the full text of a book, not merely short passages.
