Tempura (てんぷら) is one of the popular Japanese dishes. If you are going to a Japanese restaurant, you have probably ordered it many times.

I guess many people think tempura is quite difficult to cook, especially to make crispy batter. But you can make Tempura batter just from ingredients in your pantry.

Basic Recipe:

  1. STEP 1 Beat the egg and icy cold water together until light and fluffy.
  2. STEP 2 Add the flour and bicarbonate of soda to the egg mixture and mix together quickly. Do not over-beat mixture.
  3. STEP 3 Use to coat fish, prawns, scallops or vegetable slices.

This recipe uses Seltzer water if you have it. Makes it light & fluffy.

  • 1 cup of flour
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 cups of seltzer water
  • Salt

Great way to cook Chicken strips & vegetables  for kids to enjoy with dipping sauce.
